Alpha Capital AMC Company Profile

Year 1998

  • GE Capital and Goldman Sachs formed a JV in 1998 to acquire the assets from the former Thai finance companies for an NPL platform in Thailand. (Bangkok Capital Alliance)

Year 1999 – 2003

  • Additionally, GE/Goldman managed a NPL servicing platform for Kasikorn Bank from 1999 – 2003

Year 2008

  • Alpha Capital was established in 2008 as GE Capital’s NPL platform in Thailand, along with the Ratanarak Group, a prominent local family as its Thai partner

Year 2016

  • Ares SSG Capital Management (“Ares SSG”), an alternative asset management firm from Hong Kong, bought GE’s interest in Alpha in 2016

  • Ares SSG further institutionalized and managed the business to achieve targeted collections, paving the way for future growth

Year 2019

  • In Q4/2019, Ares SSG established a strategic partnership with 9 Basil Pte Ltd. (“9 Basil”), a local investment firm who came in as 49% shareholder, while Ares SSG maintained 51% stake in Alpha
